Dear Classmates,
Our classmate Greg Curtis has left for France to visit with his Great Uncle Andre Heintz who was a member of the French Resistance. Andre is approaching 100 years of age, and Greg says he still has his faculties about him and is sharp as a tack.
After he visits with his Great Uncle, Greg plans to go to Paris to relax and, knowing Greg, probably do some work.
I had to pull teeth to let Greg send you this information but I felt it important for you to know about his Great Uncle. I have an article attached to this email for your reading pleasure. You can also search Andre online for more articles if you wish.
Thank you Greg and have a great trip!!!!

Jim,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for forwarding the article about Greg Curtis' great-uncle. It's particularly interesting to me and my husband, Bill, because Bill's uncle was in the 17th and 101st Airborne Div., fighting in Normandy, France and the Battle of the Bulge, Belgium. He's 92 now and very alert. His wife (Bill's aunt) was born is Essen, Germany, where they met when he was stationed in Germany during WWII. In 1948, after he returned home to Youngstown, Ohio, he sent for her and they were married a few months later. Their stories of wartime are fascinating and we never tire of listening to them. These are truly wonderful, resilient people. We're so proud they're our aunt and uncle. I plan on sharing the article about Greg's great-uncle with them. I know they'll enjoy it.
Sincerely,
-Barb (Sudzina) Lallo.
